Day 337 – Monterey

Sunday was a beautiful day, starting off with a run along Monterey Bay, and then a scenic drive. Since we had to leave Highway 1 on our trip north due to a closure, we wanted to drive south on the highway to see the area that we missed, which included Big Sur. First we drove the scenic 17-mile Drive through Pebble Beach to Carmel, then we hit the highway and made the incredible drive south. After driving almost all the way to the highway closure, we stopped and ate lunch on the coast in the van. Then we turned around and enjoyed doing the drive all over again heading north back to the hotel.

Day 338 – Monterey to Santa Cruz

We enjoyed another beautiful morning run, then we said goodbye to Monterey and continued our trip north, across the bay to Santa Cruz. After work was done for the day, we realized that this might be our only night of good weather for a few days, so we went for a walk down to the wharf for dinner. On the way back, we walked through the (closed) Santa Cruz Boardwalk, then back to the hotel.

Day 339 – Santa Cruz

As we feared, Tuesday was a very rainy day, so we stayed at hotel and got in a full day of work.

Day 340 – Santa Cruz

Just like the previous day, Wednesday was very rainy so we stayed in the hotel.

Day 341 – Santa Cruz to Half Moon Bay

Our original plan was to pack up and head to next stop, but for the first time in over ten months, RC wouldn’t start. She was overdue for a tune-up, so we had her towed to a mechanic around the corner and extended our stay at the hotel for another night.

Day 342 – Santa Cruz to Half Moon Bay (Take 2)

We spent Friday morning working form the hotel waiting for RC to be ready. Right before lunch, we got her back as good as new, so we headed north to Half Moon Bay. Our campground was right on the ocean, and we enjoyed some a warm, sunny afternoon. We also walked into town to explore the downtown area.

Day 343 – Half Moon Bay to Duncan Mills

Saturday started with a chilly morning run along coast line. Then we packed up the van and continued our trip up Highway 1 into San Francisco. We left the highway to hug the western side of the peninsula, then took some great pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge before crossing over to Marin County. We tried to visit Stinson Beach, but due to some detours and weekend traffic, we ended up circling around Muir Woods back to Highway 101. We are lunch in the van, then made our way to the campground along the Russian River near Duncan Mills.
