Day 267 – Mobile

Sunday morning we relaxed in the hotel, then headed out to walk around downtown Mobile. We walked along Dauphin St., then through Mardi Gras Park and the Fort of Colonial Mobile. We had also hoped to visit the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center but unfortunately it was closed. We wandered through the Church Street Historic District and then returned to the van and headed back to our hotel for dinner and a movie.

Day 268 – Mobile to Biloxi

We spent Monday morning working and watching the previous night’s game where the Blazers beat the Spurs! Then we headed to Biloxi, where we found a great deal on a room in one of the casino resorts. We booked four nights as a treat for ourselves, it is nice to stay in one place for a few days, especially in a four-star resort!

Days 269-271 – Biloxi

We spent a few days working, getting some exercise (including a run through Biloxi where we saw at least twenty cats!) and generally enjoying having a really nice room in a huge hotel full of restaurants and other fun stuff to do.

Day 272 – Biloxi to New Orleans

Friday it was time to get back on the road, so we made the drive to our hotel in downtown New Orleans. Our first experience was getting to see the Blazers play the Pelicans, with seats that were just two rows behind the Blazers bench. It was a really cool experience, we even got to meet the Blazers television broadcasters and get our picture taken with them. Unfortunately we lost, but we met some other cool Blazers fans and got to see the game from a whole new perspective.

Day 273 – New Orleans

Saturday we had the whole day to explore The Big Easy. We started by walking down to the river and watching the huge ships heading upriver. Then we walked all around the French Quarter for a couple of hours, doing some shopping and enjoying jambalaya and gumbo for lunch. We headed back to the hotel for brief rest, then we walked east from our hotel to see some of the larger historic homes and to explore Magazine Street. Finally, after almost twelve miles of walking, we were exhausted and hungry, so we grabbed some gyros and made our way back to the hotel.
