Day 239 – Indian Rocks Beach
The weather finally cleared and started warming up on Sunday, just in time for our trip into Tampa to go to the see the Buccaneers take on the Detroit Lions at Raymond James Stadium. We really enjoyed the game and some nice sunny weather, but once the sun started going down the chilly weather returned. After a seafood dinner on the way home, we returned to the condo for another relaxing evening.
Day 240 – Indian Rocks Beach
Monday was a short day of work so we’d have time to finally enjoy some legitimately nice weather. Luckily, we planned our big outdoor activity for the day, a dolphin cruise from Madeira Beach, about ten miles south of the condo. We spent an hour and a half cruising around, and saw a large group of dolphins swimming out of the bay and into the Gulf of Mexico. We also got a short tour of some of the million-dollar homes lining the bay. After the cruise, we explored some of the shops along the boardwalk, then we headed back to the condo, grabbing dinner along the way.
Day 241 -Indian Rocks Beach
Tuesday we had to say goodbye to Tracey’s parents, then we went for a quick run before settling in for a day of work.
Day 242 – Indian Rocks Beach to Lake Kissimmee State Park
Wednesday we packed up the van and reluctantly left the condo behind. We headed east again, back across Florida to a stop at Lake Kissimmee State Park.
Day 243 – Lake Kissimmee State Park
Thursday was mainly a work day, but after lunch we hiked for a few miles around the park along the shore of the lake. We didn’t see any alligators, despite a few warning signs, but we did see a lot of birds and even a couple of armadillos!
Day 244 – Lake Kissimmee State Park to Orlando
Friday was a big day for us, because after work and a fairly short drive to Orlando, we had tickets to see our beloved Blazers for the first time this season! We stayed in the very pretty historic Lake Lucerne Court Inn, just south of downtown. We were able to walk around downtown and ate dinner at Harry Buffalo’s in the Church Street Station area. Then we headed to Amway Center, where we had great seats to see the Blazers beat the Magic. And we even got on TV!
Day 245 – Orlando to Kennedy Space Center
Saturday was another exciting day, so we got an early start and continued east to the Kennedy Space Center. We spent most of the day exploring all the exhibits, including the Space Shuttle Atlantis, the Apollo/Saturn V center and a bus tour of the complex. It was a really neat experience. Then we headed a little further south to our hotel, picking up a pizza for dinner along the way.
Snow & sleet here in the Old Country.
Merry Christmas!!
