Why?
On November 30, 2015, Michael proposed to Tracey in Beijing (Spoiler alert: she said yes!), continuing a tradition of making grand plans while on vacation in foreign countries.
When?
Monday, September 5, 2016. (Don’t worry, it’s Labor Day)
Where?
Ceremony will be held in Cathedral Park in Portland, OR. The reception will follow at The Firehouse at 711 NE Dekum.
Wait…where?
Cathedral Park is located under the St. Johns Bridge, about five miles north of downtown Portland to connect the neighborhoods of St. Johns and Linnton. It is a beautiful and historic bridge dedicated in 1931, with huge Gothic arch concrete supports that look like they should be in a cathedral (hence the name Cathedral Park). The towers are over 400 feet tall, making it the tallest bridge in Portland. It has also been featured on several of television shows and commercials, including Grimm and The Librarians (both of which Michael has worked on as an extra and/or stand-in…just had to work that in there). Cathedral Park is one of the most popular places for photographers in the entire city. It is definitely our favorite, we think it will be an amazing place to say our vows to each other.
The Firehouse is an excellent restaurant and event space located in the historic Dekum Firehouse in NE Portland. They serve food from southern Italy cooked over wood-fired grills (and pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven). The building was built in the early 1900s as Firehouse 29, which was decommissioned in the 1950s. After life as a Salvation Army boys club and a storehouse for stolen goods, it became a restaurant in 2008.
