Day 190 – Mahanoy City to Allentown

Sunday morning started off sunny and warm, so Michael walked around town taking pictures of some interesting buildings while Tracey went to see her grandmother in the nursing home. Then it was time to get back on the road. We drove a couple of miles out of the way to see the old St. Nicholas coal breaker, at one time one of the largest in the world and currently in the process of being torn down. Next, we drove through Pottsville so Michael could see the infamous Yuengling Brewery, the oldest brewery in the country.

After Pottsville we continued on to the campground outside of Allentown, where we relaxed after a whirlwind of a weekend. Before dinner, we did squeeze in a short hike on a trail above the campground, where we met an adorable little puppy.

Day 191 – Allentown to Langhorne

Monday morning began with work from the campground, then a short drive to the Lehigh Valley mall so Michael could get some more work in while Tracey did a little window shopping. We also got to enjoy Chik-fil-A for lunch! Afterwards, we continued on to Bethlehem, where we walked around the historic downtown area, then visited Lehigh University. We stopped at the basketball arena where CJ McCollum played his college ball to take a picture to submit to #wearintheworld for a chance for Michael to get featured during one of the games. Finally, we continued on to Tracey’s Aunt Judy’s house for the night where she treated us to a delicious pot roast dinner.

Day 192 – Langhorne to Wildwood

Another morning of work at Aunt Judy’s for Michael, then back on the road where we drove through a torrential downpour into New Jersey, our 31st state! Our destination for the day was the Jersey Shore town of Wildwood, where we checked into the Starlux Hotel, a super cute hotel with retro decor.

Day 193 – Wildwood

Wednesday started off with work from the hotel and a special treat, watching the Blazers home opener that was on too late for us to watch the night before (which will be a running theme while we are on the east coast). After getting in a day of work, we headed out to walk around town to see the largest collection of mid-century hotels in the country, many of which have cool Googie signs. Then we hit the boardwalk, which was mostly closed down but still a neat place to visit.

Day 194 – Wildwood to Cape May

After work, we left Wildwood for the short drive to Cape May, a very different Jersey Shore town even though it was only about ten miles away. We stopped for groceries and lunch, then visited Cape May Lighthouse. Then we headed to the campground a few miles outside of town to finish out the work day and relax.

Day 195 – Cape May

Friday was a full day of work (and a Blazers game), while Tracey made soup.

Day 196 – Cape May

Saturday morning we packed up the van so we could drive back into Cape May. The town is full of historic homes from the late 1700s and 1800s, so we really enjoyed wandering through the streets and seeing all the beautiful architecture. We also ate lunch on Washington Street , where we enjoyed some fresh seafood (fish and chips and crab cake sandwich). Then we did some more exploring before heading back to the campground for a dinner and a relaxing evening.
